Car history: |
I am selling my Father's 1968 Corvette Convertible. He has failing health and the car has set for some time. I brought my Father and his Corvette to my home in TN from KS 18 months ago. It had not been driven for a year or two prior to me moving it to TN. I have had the car out 3-4 times since it has been with me taking my kids for a ride in Grandpa's Vette. First of all this car is a driver, nothing more. The paint is average (pearl white), has chips and some yellow hues coming through in places. The chrome is dull and the interior is all there but tired as well. When I drove it today, some smoke came from the right rear. I investigated and there is brake fluid leaking getting on the rotor resulting in smoke after the car has been driven awhile. The good news, I put a charger on the Delco battery for 10 minutes, a little gas in the carburetor, and the non matching small block 327 fired right up and immediately idled properly. I drove it around the sub-division. The car runs very strong, with an excellent 4 speed gearbox and excellent handling characteristics. It does not pull either direction, brakes did fine and the exhaust is like new. BF Goodrich's are excellent and the convertible top is also excellent. All lights, signals, gauges all work. In one photo, you can see the emergency brake light is on the dash, and the seatbelt light is also lit up. The emergency brake works, windows work properly. The speedometer shows 93000 miles. I hate to part with it, but it is best for our family. The body code is 435, paint code is 900, and there is "D21" on top of that same plate. I understand the front end is not correct for a 1968 so you do not need to email me this information. The car is a blast to drive and of course gets the "thumbs up" all the time, just needs a new home and some TLC! The car is located in Cleveland, TN 25 miles northeast of Chattanooga. Reserve met at $10,600. March 8, 2012. |
